Joseph Opshinsky is a Pennsylvania-based artist whose cut paper collages are inspired by the region’s landscapes, industrial history, and the natural beauty of places often overlooked or reclaimed by nature. Beginning with plein air sketches and watercolor studies, his vibrant, award-winning works transform local scenes into layered compositions of color and pattern. His collages have been exhibited widely, including at the State Museum of Pennsylvania, where his work is held in the permanent collection.

Jay Brooks is an award-winning landscape painter whose lifelong connection to the natural world began on a 90-acre farm in Pavilion, New York. Trained from age 14 under John Piesley and Charles Movalli, Brooks blends classical technique with a deep appreciation for the landscape. After earning his BFA from Carnegie Mellon University and MFA from Columbia University, he returned to upstate New York, where he draws inspiration from the countryside, small towns, coastlines, and waterways of the Northeast. His acclaimed plein air paintings capture the beauty, atmosphere, and character of landscapes both near and far.

Jesse Clemente is a Scranton, Pennsylvania–based abstract and neo-expressionist artist whose work is rooted in graffiti, street culture, and emotional expression. Working primarily through intuition and spontaneous mark-making, he creates layered, energetic paintings that explore feeling, movement, and personal experience. His work has been exhibited throughout the Northeast, NYC and collected by private collectors across the United States and internationally.

Thank you to everyone who came out for First Friday and helped make the opening of Globe Gallery such an unforgettable night. We were truly overwhelmed by the number of people who walked through our doors to explore the new space and support the local art community.

A special thank you goes to the incredible artists who trusted us, participated in this inaugural exhibition, and believed in our vision from the very beginning. You made this show possible, and we’re honored to share your work with our community.

The energy and conversations throughout the evening confirmed exactly why we wanted to create Globe Gallery. We believe Scranton deserves more spaces dedicated to art, creativity, and community, and we’re grateful to everyone who joined us in celebrating this first step.

If you weren’t able to make the opening, don’t worry! We’re now open during regular gallery hours Wednesday-Saturday 11am-7pm, and this incredible exhibition is still on view through June and July. We can’t wait to welcome you into the space, introduce you to these amazing artists, and continue building something special together.
